Ø NEW!! AHARC Web page www.aharc.org
Don, K2UOB has been hard at work building a web page for the club. On this site, you’ll find upcoming events, club news, and the AHARC newsletter. Plus pictures of activities AHARC members are involved with.
Many thanks to Don, our Webmaster, for securing the web site and address, as well as building the web page. Great job Don!!!
From
ye old Editor’s Desk….
Well I wasn’t able to attend last month’s meeting, due to work obligations L, but should be there for the April meeting.
Scott Whitney, N2PEE, will be the club liaison to John Tucker, Director of the Office of Emergency Services. Scott has years of experience with the Wellsville Ambulance Corps, and in Search and Rescue as well. Please give Scott your full support in this important area, in which we have the capability to help provide communications when the need arises.
A reminder, with the spring and summer weather shortly on it’s way, it time to once again to think about Skywarn. Our help is needed for Allegany County; to find out more go to the NWS web page at: http://www.wbuf.noaa.gov/ it is loaded with information.
I just finished reading an article in the April 2001 edition of CQ magazine. The article is titled “New HF Angle, Single-Site Emission-Locator (HASSEL) Stations Ready to Cleanse ham Bands”. A very interesting article. Take a look at the web site about it at:
http://archive.uwaterloo.ca/~brobinso/masset.html Hopefully this will help to cleanup the bands.
Contributions and articles of interest for the newsletter would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know via email or radio. That’s all this time around.

Upcoming
Club Activities….
The STPR Road Rally is coming up the first weekend in June. So far it looks like AHARC will represented by K2UOB, K3QBU, N2XPG, and N2WDS to help with rally communications. If anyone else would like to participate, please contact Don, K2UOB at weimandn@usadatanet.net for further information. Don will point you in the right direction. Also, checkout Don’s website; he has pictures of last year’s rally and may have a link to the STPR website.
The annual AHARC picnic and Foxhunt….no dates have been set as of yet…anybody game?
Any other activities have yet to decided on, as of this date. Stay tuned for more info.

LICENSE TESTING: The next ARRL/VEC testing session will be scheduled for May 19th at 9:00 am in the Potter County EOC. There is plenty of time to study for that upgrade. If you want an ARRL license manual, we can get them for you at a discount. We will place an order on March 2, so call Roy Heimel, 814-274-4239 or via email at rheimel@adelphia.net by March 1.
FIELD DAY: The Headwaters ARC, ARRL Field Day will be on 23 and 24 June this year. We have again arranged to use the Black Forest Conservation Association Camp on Jenkins Hill this year. This facility has sleeping and eating facilities, so we have operated to the wee hours of the morning. This has been a fun event for all who have participated in the past. It is also an opportunity to operate with full HF privileges, no matter your license class. Mark it on your calendar, and plan to spend some time with the rest of the club. For more info contact Roy at

Thanks Roy)
